Episode 45: Alyshia Van Kannel – Never Would I Have Ever Thought…

Alyshia Van Kannel knew two things for sure, she wanted to be a teacher, and she wanted to teach internationally. It is because of this dream that she was willing to move to Nicaragua, Central America.  Some of us might ignore that little voice inside of us while others race wholeheartedly toward that passion.

Little did Alyshia know she would face personal and emotional obstacles, cultural and ethical adversities and on top of that, political unrest. What does one do when even the Canadian Embassy has left the country?

Even though we follow that path we seem predestined to pursue, does not guarantee it will be easy or without challenges.  Unpacking her lifechanging experiences, surprising insights and rich learnings, Alyshia’s story will speak to those who are willing to dream, set goals and get uncomfortable.
